Barcelona SC Blue GU11 remain on top after a solid weekend of soccer. The girls' Saturday 2-2 tie with Oxnard PAL coupled with their Sunday 7-0 victory over California Warriors SC lands them alone at first place in their bracket.  Oxnard PAL,  who have shared the top spot with Barca Blue since the start of the season, dropped to second place after tying their match with Oxnard AC Blue 0-0  on Sunday.

Saturdays face-off with Oxnard PAL was the most evenly matched competition of the season. A large audience of parents, extended family, friends and fans of Barca flocked to AC Stelle to watch the highly anticipated game, and the girls did not disappoint - It was aggressive, fearless, rough and tumble soccer throughout with no player backing down until the final whistle blew.

FIghting against a powerful Oxnard PAL defense, the game was twenty minutes in before Barca was able to score their first goal with a beautiful shot in the top corner of the net. The girls then took a 2-1 lead with a powerful kick directed to the Oxnard PAL keeper, who caught then fumbled the ball. Barca's ironclad defense and determined midfield stayed focused and strong under enormous pressure, limiting their opponents' opportunities considerably and fighting to keep possession of the ball. Near the end of the second half, Oxnard PAL ultimately tied up the game with a swift and unexpected shot over the goalkeeper's head.

On Sunday, a battle-weary Barca Blue traveled to Oxnard to face California Warriors SC. After a slow start, the girls in blue turned up the heat to smoke out the competition with a solid 7-0 victory. As in a prior match against this team, Barca girls kept the opponents at bay, limiting the Warriors to only two shots on goal.

WIth 51 goals recorded to date,  Barcelona SC Blue GU11 leads not only their bracket but the entire Bronze division in goals scored.  The team is poised to win their bracket and more. Go Barca!
