On Sunday, Barcelona SC Blue GU11 prevailed again in a solid 3-1 victory over Oxnard SC Blue at College Park in Oxnard. In their toughest game of the season, the team worked hard and played smart to hold their hungry opponents to just one goal.  The Barca girls faced an equally aggressive team and rose to the occasion by implementing the accurate passing and disciplined positioning that coach Melissa Fernandez has been teaching since spring. 

 

Sunday's game featured several standout moments.  Deserving forward Noa Abramovitch (#19)  impressed again with her speed and ball control, scoring two of Barca's three goals.  In addition to a perfect assist to Abramovitch, supersonic Charlottte Binder (#10) raced to the front to claim the second goal of the match. We also saw a memorable play from defender Ally Sell (#3), who accellerated at full speed to catch a breakaway that looked like goal #2 for Oxnard SC Blue. 

 

Next Saturday brings the highly anticipated showdown with Oxnard PAL, who share an identical 6-0 record with Barcelona Blue.  The girls are preparing themselves physically and mentality to protect their home field in what is sure to be the season's most exciting match to date.
